Double stroller shopping... Finally starting to feel real!
By stephc2010 » Posted Feb. 5, 2016 8:52pm - 414 views - 9 comments

Two things I realized yesterday:

1: In roughly 3 short months, we'll REALLY be a family of 4! As if feeling this little girl wiggling in my belly all day wasn't proof enough, lol!

And...

2: Double strollers are SO expensive! :(

After testing out a few, we have our hearts set on one of the most expensive ones available in store... A City Mini Select. It can be a single, double or even TRIPLE if you buy the glider board for a toddler to stand on (we plan to try for a boy roughly 2 years after this little girl arrives)! We LOVED it! The $550 price tag, not so much... And that's without the $60 car seat adapter, the $40 for 2 snack trays and $80 if we want the glider board for later... Not to mention these don't even come with a stupid cup holder for parents, so you have to buy that, too! I love my City Mini single jogger that we got on clearance (store model) last July. Yes, 1 month before I found out I was pregnant! (And I even asked him when we were going to plan to add another to the family, and we agreed on at least another year or so, but got this surprise in August, lol!) But WHY do they make you spend even MORE money for something that comes standard on almost every other stroller, lol. For the record, we didn't buy any accessories for the jogger stroller, no belly bar/snack tray (just use the 5 point harness) and pushed with one hand while holding a drink, lol! At least my husband has admitted that he'd rather spend more on a good quality stroller, than buy one that we don't absolutely love. So hopefully, we can pull it off. It's available on Amazon with the 2nd seat attachments already, and we have a few Amazon gift cards that we've received for gits over the past year or two, so hopefully that will help lessen the blow to our bank account! Hopefully he doesn't change his mind on this stroller at the last minute. I really loved it! Haha.

Yes, the Baby Jogger City Select! I just realized I typed the wrong name in my journal entry... I blame pregnancy brain =P I'm surprised at the prices in places other than the US! Amazon has the stroller available with the 2nd seat already for $560, I'm considering myself lucky now :) Still not happy about the cost for the car seat adapter and glider board and snack trays, etc. But I think we've decided it'd be the best investment for us :)

I think you must mean a baby jogger city select?? Think yourself luck, in Australia they coat $1000 for just one seat, then you need to buy the second seat and adapters, I got a capsule for mine as there is more room for the second seat with it, and I love I can take the second seat off and have a single!!

That sounds crazy Steph! Most things lose value so fast, but year if the difference between used and new is that small, definitely go for new! And good luck with the amazon deal ;)

I've been looking for a used one, but the problem is that most of the time, when the Baby Jogger brand of strollers are being sold used, they go pretty quick! I saw someone was selling the exact same one I wanted to get for $400. And the crazy part is that they said they bought it in 2011!!! That was 5 years ago, I could buy it brand new for $550 right now, lol. At least I know that if I do purchase it, it will definitely hold it's value!! :) Which, I'm pretty sure we're going to be purchasing it, as long as my sister in law agrees to let us use her Amazon Prime account to create a baby registry to HOPEFULLY get a 15% off completion code that will discount the stroller, some say it worked, some say it didn't. So fingres crossed it works in our favor :)

Wow. Just 3 months. They'll zip by!

As for strollers - I'm very much clueless, but is a used one not an option if you'd like high end but feel a bit iffy on the price? Sometimes you can find stuff that's hardly been used, at a fraction of the price it would cost buying from new.

Everything baby related is SO overpriced!! But they know you NEED it which really sucks, lol! I'm hoping Allison will be nice to her baby sister. She loves her baby dolls and gives them cuddles all the time and give them their bottles and pacis, I just worry about her getting jealous, lol! She still has to "test" the bottle or paci out before she gives them to her dolls, I worry she'll try and steal her baby sister's milk! Also, if the dolls have a headband, she always pulls it off. I can imagine her snapping her sister's headband ALL the time, hahaha! I just can't wait to see them together :)

I can't decide if I wanna buy a dbl stroller or not. It would def make life easier, but I can see Braelyn doing horrible things to her brother or sister. :/
I've been eyeballing the Peg Perego Book for Two. I have the Book Classico and absolutely love it so figured I'd stick with what I know. $700 price tag tho...they see us coming a mile away.
Keep creepin' amazon, maybe they'll throw it on sale. =))

Ouch! I'm definitely glad I won't have to pay THAT much! :) Coffee is definitely a must! Especially with a newborn ;)
