Hi natasha,
I completely understand your concern and the fact that you are in great pain right now. Even my first kid was born 8 days post my calculated due date. He was so stubborn to come out, that he stayed in there for this long. I think children feels safer inside, maybe? But whatever the reason might be, they must be allowed to come out as they please, it is a natural process and it should remain as much natural as possible. During my labor, i was only dialted 2cm. It took me around 8 days to hit 10 cm, that too was very less according to the medical certified levels. But my gynaecologist saw the head coming out, so she took me to the labor room, and brought my child into this world. She did suggest me a few things to induce dilation. But i feel that doing that will be a little too mucb on the kid. If he wants to stay in for a little longer, and probably he feels safer inside, he must! And when he comes out on his own, cherish that moment forever and welcome him with open arms.

I went a week past with my last...I was taking evening primrose to help, not sure to what extent but by the time I suspected labor I was already 6cm dilated so I think it helped with that. GL and hang in there, it's almost go time!

Do a search for yoga to induce labour..... worth a try at least!

I totally understand, my first baby was 12 days past his due date and I thought I was going to go crazy! I tried everything, lemon cupcakes ( I ate 6 and nothing) castor oil (made me throw up and get a nose bleed), and I even let my midwife put in a cook catheter which is supposed to soften the cervix (hurt SOOO bad and didn't work). I will say that after doing 30 minutes of yoga I got my first big contraction and things progressed from there. I know its so hard right now, but if you can find things to occupy yourself and just wait till baby is ready to come you will be so glad. I'm expecting #2 in January and I know I will not do anything yucky or uncomfortable this time around to get labor going.
