Abigail Helen's Birth Story

Everything happened so fast, but baby and I are doing well! Yesterday morning (7/8) I checked my blood pressure and it was good, like 109/81. But around 10 that night I got the most splitting headache I’ve ever had. I checked my BP again, and it was high but not alarmingly so. I woke up the next morning, head still pounding. Checked my blood pressure and it was 164/116, so of course the OB on call told me to come to triage. My labs were good, but I was given something really strong for the headache that did nothing after 3 hours. The OB and high-risk team decided the headache was preeclampsia-related, so my diagnosis got switched from mild to severe. Then the spots in my vision started. So my two best friends came and took care of it 13 month-old while my husband and I were in the o.r

The c-section well. I’m really happy the doctor let my husband get a picture of Baby right after she came out..’He hurdles are breathing and eating, but she’s not on much oxygen, and I’m pumping religiously so hopefully when she’s ready we can breastfeed. This is not the situation I wanted, but I am going to pour every bit of love I have into baby Abigail and her big sister!

Thanks, ladies! She’s doing well- off of oxygen, so our hurdle now is eating by mouth. She was able to latch today and breastfeed for a bit so it’s promising.
