Repeat anatomy scan next Thursday

Hi Ladies- I’m really sad to see the losses on here recently. Praying for healing and rainbow babies to come. I wish I had really good news, but everything is a waiting game at this point. I had my anatomy scan last Thursday at 18+6. The baby is definitely a boy, but he was lying transverse and curled up in a ball, so the ultrasound tech couldn’t see everything, mainly a 4th chamber of the heart. Then of what she did see, the 3rd ventricle of the brain is dilated. So my OB is sending me to the MFM for a repeat anatomy scan. She thinks the heart is fine that literally the tech couldn’t get an image because he was in such a bad position. But because they couldn’t see all of the heart and the dilation in the brain, we need to check everything out. So much for passing under the radar this pregnancy. My dr did say it could be nothing, but the MFM’s machine is better than theirs. If the only thing is dilation in the brain, we have to figure out what’s causing it. If there’s a blockage that’s causing spinal fluid to be trapped, that’s a problem/hydrocephalus. It’s treatable but not curable, so baby would have a shunt put in after birth to drain the fluid and would need follow-up care. That’s hopefully the worst case scenario. There I was so worried about the placental lake and now this. Ugh. They didn’t even measure the lake. Will update when I know more.

Thanks, calvingirl! Good news today and yes I’m completely exhausted from the worrying. But breathing a sigh of relief

Thinking of you and hoping you get good news soon. I know worrying is just exhausting, especially this time of year.

Thank you so much, ladies! Thursday can’t get here fast enough, but I’m trying to focus on the excitement of Christmas for my daughters.

Sending so many prayers! I've seen so many made to unnecessarily worry over similar and end up to be absolutely nothing, praying thats the case for you as well!

I'm sure everything will be fine! Unfortunately the stress is already there and won't be gone until that scan. Prayers that you find peace In all of it.
